Among all the communities in Israel mourning the fallen of the war, the small circle of Hesder yeshivot carries a particularly heavy burden. The number of Hesder students among the dead is many times greater than their share of the population, leaving these yeshivot deep in grief.

Out of this sorrow came a clear commitment: these young men must not be forgotten – not the circumstances of their deaths, and even more so, the richness of their lives. Students of the Hesder yeshivot embody a human character that is uncommon in Israeli society, and the fallen – often the first to run forward – express this spirit with rare clarity.

Their acts of heroism in battle are striking, as if drawn from earlier generations. Yet no less moving are the daily choices and quiet virtues that shaped their lives long before the war.

This book gathers their stories, preserving the depth, dignity, and humanity they brought into the world.
